Where have the Year 2009 gone?  We have struggled with a falthering economy, nagging wars, and the
critical issue of Healthcare Reform.  The United States Postal Service also faced the turbulence of a financial
storm just to ensure its survival.  Let us continue to work with the Modified Interim Alternate Route Adjustment
Process (MIARAP).  Remember, this is to help us gain territory, thereby we will continue to to enjoy future
employment.
Let us remember our men and women of the United States Armed Forces during this holiday season.
To all my brothers and sister of the SCSALC and their families, have a Merry Christmas and a Happy
New Year!

In Solidarity,
Richard (Dick) Jones
Congressional District 2 Liaison

I would like to thank our State President Emily Lane and the members of South Carolina State Association of
Letter Carriers for appointing me as your Congressional District Liaison for District 2.  I will do my absolute best
in keeping the members of the district informed about congressional issues that pertain to our membership. I
will also ensure that the interest and concerns of the branches within my district are communicated to the Honorable
Joe Wilson's office.
On May 28 2009, I went to Congressman Joe Wilson's office in West Columbia.  I just wanted to introduce
myself and make sure that his office was aware that letter carriers are active constituents of his district.  I had the
privilege of meeting the congressman, his chief of staff, and his counsel.  I thanked Congressman Joe Wilson for
his support of Bill H.R.22.  I believe he understands the importance of this bill to letter carriers.
Please take time to become an E-Activist.  You can sign up at the home page of the NALC Website.
http://www.nalc.org/index.html It takes approximately 53 seconds to sign up.  Thank you for your support.

In Solidarity,
Richard Jones, CDL District 2
